Choosing the RIGHT partner for life

Marriage can be a great blessing; yet it can also bring much misery if a wrong partner is chosen. This is true given the high divorce rate (2/3) in Singapore here and it is increasing at an alarming rate. (Coz they didn't see this. ha)

EIGHT TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS THAT WON'T WORK

1. You care more about your partner than he does care about you.
-You can't stop thinking about him/her when you are apart, but he/she seems to be doing fine without you.

2. You are in love with your partners' potential.
-You aren't really in love with who they actually are, you are in love with who you hope they can become.

3. You are on a rescue mission. (seen in most love drama)
-Do you often feel sorry for your partner? So you feel responsible for helping your partner get his life together? Are you afraid that if you leave, your partner's life would fall apart?

4. You look up to your partner as role model.
-When you put your partner on a pedestal, you will feel inferior to him. People who fall in love with a role model usually suffer from very low self-esteem.

5. You are infatuated with your partner for external reasons.
-Ask yourself: "If this person doesn't have those big eyes, gorgeous hair, a great voice, or isn't a model, basketball player, air stewardess...would I still like to be with him or her?"

6. You and your partner are really "trench buddies." (common misconception)
-"Trench buddies" are people found them living life together for a short while. In that period, they become intensively bonded together. But usually, it doesn't last. Projects, assignments, BBQ, overseas attachment, etc.

7. You choose a partner in order to be rebellious.
-If you have a pattern of choosing partners who upset your family, you are probably acting out of rebellion.

8. Your partner is emotionally unavailable.
-Stay away from people who are already married or in other relationships! When you get involved with someone who is in a relationship with someone else, you are accepting that person's leftovers! which you deserve much, much better than that!

If any of your friend or you are experiencing relationship problems, it is probably due to 1 or mixture of these options.
